310011 Fuel Tank and Lines 310011 REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Fuel Lines 6 Removal and Installation WARNING Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuelrelated components Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury WARNING Do not carry personal electronic devices such as cell phones pagers or audio equipment of any type when working on or near any fuelrelated components Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury WARNING Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running Before servicing or disconnecting any of the fuel system components the fuel system pressure must be relieved to prevent accidental spraying of fuel causing personal injury or a fire hazard WARNING This procedure involves fuel handling Be prepared for spillage at all times and always observe fuel handling precautions Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury 1 With the vehicle in NEUTRAL position it on a hoist For additional information refer to Section 10002 2 Remove the LH front splash shield For additional information refer to Section 50102 Remove the 2 fuel tube bundle shield retainer bolts 8 Remove the 2 fuel tube bundle clip retainer nuts 9 To install tighten to 5 Nm 44 lbin To install tighten to 5 Nm 44 lbin Release the pushpin retainer clips and remove the fuel tube bundle shield 10 Remove the 3 fuel tube bundle retainer clips 11 Disconnect the front fuel supply tubetofuel filter quick connect coupling For additional information refer to Section 31000 12 CAUTION Some residual fuel may remain in the fuel tubes Upon removal carefully drain into a suitable container Remove the front fuel supply tube 13 Disconnect the rear fuel supply tubetofuel filter quick connect coupling For additional information refer to Section 31000 14 Remove 2 nuts 1 bolt and the LH foreign material deflector To install tighten to 25 Nm 18 lbft Disconnect the front fuel supply tubetofuel supply hose quick connect coupling For additional information refer to Section 31000 5 7 To install tighten to 8 Nm 71 lbin Disconnect the battery ground cable For additional information refer to Section 41401 4 Release the fuel system pressure For additional information refer to Section 31000 3 Remove the fuel tube bundle bracket and retaining bolt Copyright 2006 Ford Motor Company Last updated 6192006 15 Remove the rear seat cushion For additional information refer to Section 50110 2007 Mustang Mustang GT 82006
